Yokohama/Tokyo, Japan

April 13-14, 2024

We docked in Yokohama a ten minute walk from the metro – which links to the Tokyo metro about an hour ride to central Tokyo. We traveled to Tokyo with friends – Yokohama ___ station to main train station, train to Tokyo, a short walk to a different metro line to our walking tour.

Tokyo Metro Map – don’t let it intimidate you! Google maps is very helpful in navigating which lines to take and great signage helps you get on the correct line. Anytime you get confused, staff at the stations will help point you the correct way. And – nice bathrooms!

Spending the night in the Ropponghi district; known for night life – but not being a night person, we made it to about 11PM, when the district started waking up.
Museum of the Samurai and Ninja – best 3000 yen pp spent!
My best attempt with a throwing star!
Samurai were in noble families and passed on the title and tradition with their katana.
Ninja! Recruited from farming families and often traveled in disguise.
Yes, there were many female Samurai.
Sushi lunch in Yokohama. The “medium fatty” tuna is amazing – absolutely melts in your mouth.
Anime dolls in the gardens of Yokohama (which were next door to a baseball stadium)
A serene pond in the middle of Yokohama

As you can tell by how far behind I’ve become, the “history lesson” is in the photos of the samurai and ninja above.

Absolutely beautiful, and should be on everyone’s lists of places to visit.

I was unfamiliar with female samurai!
What a juxtaposition, the geisha&the samurai!
